James Doer, CA, CFP

James Doer is a seasoned accounting professional with more than four decades of experience in public practice. He obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1984 and went on to complete the CICA In-Depth Tax Course in 2000. The following year, he earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation, broadening his expertise in tax and financial advisory services. He was given the Fellowship Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA) in 2013.

James spent 32 years with BDO Canada, joining early in his career and becoming a Partner in 2000. In 2013, he was appointed Managing Partner of BDO’s Winnipeg office, where he provided leadership and strategic guidance until his retirement in 2019. In 2011, he also served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba, reflecting his commitment to advancing the profession and supporting the accounting community in his province.

Throughout his career, James was known for his dedication to clients, collaborative leadership, and contribution to the growth of Manitoba’s accounting profession.
